Dentures or Partials
Immediate Dentures or Partials
The first week:
- Rinse after Meals
- Leave your denture or partial out at night while you sleep. Your gums need a chance to breathe for a few hours each day.
- Use Denture Adhesive only if Necessary
- Brush Denture Teeth with Toothbrush and Denture Cleaner, NO TOOTHPASTE!
- Dentures Can Be Soaked in Plain Water or Denture Cleaners.
- Keep Out of Reach of Pets
- If Ulcer or Sore Spot Occurs, Leave out as Much As possible and Rinse with Warm Salt Water (1/2 tsp salt to 8 ozs warm water). If not healing, call for adjustment.
- Do Not Bleach
- If Flexible Partial, Soak in Hot Water For 2-3 Minutes Before Placing in Mouth.
- Most Dentures/Partials Require Relining Every 3-5 Years
- Adjustments Are Free Of Charge For The First Three Months
- Several Adjustments may be needed due to the fact that your mouth needs to get used to the appliance.
Immediate Dentures or Partials
The first week:
- DO NOT REMOVE appliances (if possible) for 24 hours.
- After 24 hours take dentures out and rinse with salt water (1/2 tsp in one cup of warm water).
- For 4-5 days after procedure only removed the appliances to clean them or rinse with salt water, unless otherwise instructed by The Doctor or Staff. If you remove your appliance for too long in the first 4-5 days, you may not be able to put them back in your mouth due to swelling.
- Eat small portions of soft foods, use instant or canned protein drinks to keep up nutritional requirements.
- Cleaning your denture: After each meal, rinse denture very well and brush with toothbrush and denture cleaner - NO TOOTHPASTE.
- Start leaving your denture or partial out at night while you sleep. Your gums need a chance to breathe for a few hours each day.
- Continue to clean dentures after each meal. Dentures Can Be Soaked in Plain Water or Denture Cleaners.
